On May 6, the university hosted the online quiz “(Un)known Vasyl Stefanyk” as part of the program of events to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the University patron. It was attended by more than three dozen students from all the structural units of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

The idea to organize the online quiz came from the rector of the university, Professor Ihor Tsependa. The event was coordinated and moderated by Professor Olha Derkachova.

“We have a great opportunity to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the patron of our university, the famous writer Vasyl Stefanyk, with various events, such as literary readings, stagings of his works, online quizzes. Regarding the latter, it should be noted that participation encourages our students to study the works of Vasyl Stefanyk, his life and career. In my opinion, students who take part in various thematic events get to know Stefanyk better, they already perceive him differently,” Olga Derkachova said.

The participants of the quiz were asked to answer 80 questions, which concerned, in particular, Vasyl Stefanyk’s body of work, his biography in relation to his contemporaries, evaluation of his work by contemporary artists, features of his works. One point was awarded for each correct answer. Since the quiz was held on one of the online platforms, the results were calculated automatically.

Mykhailo Struk, a third-year student of the Faculty of Economics majoring in Finance, Banking and Insurance, won the first place. Olha-Sofia Bodnar, a first-year student of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations majoring in International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies, took the second place. And the third place went to Khrystyna Lenko, a first-year student of the Faculty of Pedagogics majoring in Primary Education.
